Short Biography

Jonas joined the Interface Group in February 2019 as a PhD Student after graduating from ETH Zurich with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his studies, he received a scholarship of BMW where he also conducted his master thesis on adjoint-based shape-optimization in motorsport aerodynamics.

Research Goals

His research focuses on blood damage in ventricular assist devices (VAD). The main goal is to improve the quantitative prediction of blood damage and use this knowledge to enhance VAD design based on computational fluid dynamics. This research is part of the Zurich Heart Project, a joint program of the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich, EMPA, the Zurich University Hospitals as well as the German Heart Center Berlin.
