PhD Programs

  • Life Science Zurich Graduate School – PhD Program in Biomedicine

The comprehensive study and understanding of organ function in health and disease requires multidisciplinary approaches in basic, applied and translational biomedical research. The PhD program “Biomedicine” (BioMed) is part of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School (LSZGS) and imparts knowledge, concepts and modern technologies to address complex questions in biomedical sciences on a molecular, cellular and systems level with the vision to advance clinical translation and improve patient care. BioMed offers students a strong and interactive program that combines groups from the University of Zürich (UZH), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ) and the University Hospital Zürich (USZ)

  • Neuroscience Center Zurich – International PhD Program in Neuroscience

The goal of the this doctoral program is to train aspiring scientists in a broad range of neuroscience disciplines. The program is specifically designed for students interested in pursuing a professional career in neuroscience. Emphasis will be placed on the development and enhancement of essential skills required to prepare students for their future roles as neuroscientists. This will include the planning of research projects, from conceptualization to experimental design, and to final evaluation. A key element of the program will be the development of skills of communication, interaction with other scientists, and scientific writing.

  • Life Science Zurich Graduate School – PhD Program in Systems Biology

Systems Biology aims at the quantitative analysis and predictive mathematical modeling at all levels of biological organization. The aim of this interdisciplinary PhD program of systems biological researchers of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich is to train students from various disciplines and departments including Computer Science, Biological Sciences, and Engineering to become future leaders in Systems Biology. The program provides students with the generic skills for working in this new scientific field as well as training in project-specific aspects of their PhD work.

  • Life Science Zurich Graduate School – PhD Program in Molecular and Translational Biomedicine

The MTB Ph.D. program conveys knowledge, concepts and modern technologies in basic and applied biomedical research. Ph.D. students have the opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of topics including energy homeostasis, metabolism, aging, cell growth and differentiation, stem cells, inflammation and cell signaling pathways. In their projects they apply modern approaches in (epi)genetics, genomics, systems- and molecular cell biology. The MTB Ph.D. program provides a modern teaching curriculum and an international research environment to advance molecular knowledge in cell, tissue and organ function in physiological and disease states with the goal to improve patient care.
